En la actualidad es indiscutible que el desarrollo humano no depende solo de la reducción de la pobreza, existe consenso de modo creciente que este objetivo requiere también aumentar la equidad y proporcionar la disminución de las desigualdades de todo tipo.
En los últimos años, los(as) afrodescendientes en las Américas se convirtieron en actores sociales y políticos que reivindican sus derechos, siendo que la historia de la población Afrodescendiente se expresa en un continuo de resistencia y fuerza, que marcan los últimos siglos de la historia de los países de la región.
According to statistics, the black population has the lowest indicators of social exclusion. In counterpoint to this harsh reality, there are some frames that point to a potential of several organized youth of African descent, such as networks, movements and organizations, in addition to dialogue with the public that has some progress towards racial equality in recent years.
Governments, civil society and international organizations, working together with people of African descent in the fight against racism, racial discrimination, and the inclusion of this population in the areas of decision making and public policy definitions. In this context of political action has always African-American youth staged a series of socio-political moments in the country, strengthening and valuing the social struggle of the African descent in the world and recognized as part of it.
This move indicates the construction of a new role for the youths of African descent, so that visa participatory and proactive, build a new social scene for young people, valuing distinctions and overcoming inequalities.
World Youth Summit Afrodescents serve as a platform for the analysis of the progress, opportunities and challenges to the development of this important sector, framed in the strengthening of its political expression and empowering young leaders of African descent worldwide.

- Strengthen strategic capabilities on issues relevant to young leaders of African descent.
- facilitate the exchange of best practices, experiences and political and social action.
- Empower the African-American youth leadership and strengthen their joints and channel participation. Promote

- Set strategic alliances and opportunities for cooperation.
- Build a World Youth Platform Afrodescents as permanent space for analysis, exchange and cooperation between youth organizations and leaders of African descent worldwide.

Just as the proclamation of General Assembly of the United Nations Organizationof resolution A/RES/64/169 of 2011 as International Year of African descent to promote the full enjoyment of economic, social, cultural, civil and political rights of this sector, its participation and integration into all aspects of society, and promoting greater understanding and respect for diversity of culture and heritage African descent;
The Asociación Proyecto Caribe, Costa Rica, in collaboration with the Circle of Youth of African descent in the Americas, convened the first Global Youth Summit of African descent. This event will bring together delegates selected representatives of regional and international cooperation agencies, the black movement activists at the international and national and international observers.
