Patricia Ryan is an English teacher who has worked in Gulf countries for almost 40 years. In this exhibition of about ten minutes, questions whether the imposition of English in the world of business, research and education is affecting the future status of other languages, their speakers and their culture of reference, While we tend to discard them as vehicles of knowledge. Knowledge of English, desirable for its potential as global lingua franca, can, on the other hand, act as a filter and deprive us of experiences and skills, the wealth brought by many people who, for a variety of circumstances are not competent in that language.
